Living in Lubbock, I've noticed a concerning trend in our city's crime rates. Recent data shows that our violent crime rate is 857.4 per 100,000 residents, significantly higher than the state average of 401. Property crimes are also above average, with 3,163.8 incidents per 100,000 residents compared to the state average of 2,463.
These statistics are alarming and highlight the importance of being prepared to protect ourselves and our families. As a responsible gun owner, I believe in the right to bear arms for self-defense. However, it's crucial to stay informed about our state's gun laws. While Texas allows permitless carry, there are still restrictions and places where carrying is prohibited.
We must exercise our rights responsibly and stay vigilant. Let's support our local law enforcement and advocate for policies that ensure our safety. Being prepared and informed is our best defense against the rising crime in our community.
