Hey everyone, Inti here. I am so angry right now I can't even focus on my birdwatching photos from this morning. Did you see what President Noboa just did? He actually axed our Ministry of Environment! He merged it into the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
This is a total disaster for us in Tena and all over the Amazon. How can the same people who want to drill for oil and dig for gold be the ones 'protecting' our forests? It makes no sense! It’s like putting the fox in charge of the chickens.
I’ve spent my life learning to guide tourists through our beautiful jungles, but now the government is signing new oil deals with Peru and ignoring the Yasuni vote from last year. They even passed a law to let private companies run conservation zones. My Indigenous friends are scared they will lose their land rights next. We worked so hard to be a 'green' country, and now it feels like we are going backwards just for money. We need to stand up before there’s no jungle left to show anyone.
