As someone who manages high-traffic operations in Santiago, I know that order and respect for property are non-negotiable. What happened last Thursday at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium was a complete disgrace. We opened our doors to the Haitian team, and in return, their fans broke gates and acted with total indiscipline.

Even worse, their players, Wilson Isidor and Duckens Nazon, had the audacity to claim 'La Hispaniola is Haiti' after the match. As a Dominican, this is a slap in the face to our sovereignty. Sports should build bridges, but you cannot host guests who disrespect your home and your laws.

Minister Kelvin Cruz is right to demand an apology, but I would go further. We should stop renting or lending our national venues to their federation until they can guarantee the behavior of their people. In the hotel business, if a guest trashes the room and insults the staff, they get blacklisted. The same rules should apply to our national stadiums. We must protect our dignity and our infrastructure first.
