Hey everyone,
As a volleyball coach and PE teacher, I've been closely following the recent rule changes introduced by the FIVB and NFHS for the upcoming 2026 season. Notably, the FIVB has approved tests allowing double contacts during the setting action, provided the ball stays on the same side of the court. Similarly, the NFHS has eliminated penalties for multiple contacts on second touches when attempting to play the ball, aiming to improve game flow and reduce disputes.
These changes are significant and could alter how we coach and play the game. Allowing double contacts on sets might lead to more dynamic plays and reduce stoppages, but it also raises questions about skill development and fairness.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts:
- How do you think these rule changes will affect the game's dynamics and strategies?
- Do you believe this will make the game more enjoyable for players and spectators?
- Are there potential downsides to these adjustments?
Looking forward to a lively discussion!
Best,
Sela
