I just saw on the news that the government cut the excise duty on diesel by 25% starting yesterday. They say it's to help us drivers and keep the prices down. I stopped at a Petrom near Bacău this morning and it's still around 9.97 lei.
I’m no economist, just a guy behind the wheel for 20 years, but I don't get the math. If the tax cut is bigger now, shouldn't we see a real drop? 17 bani is peanuts when you're filling a 600-liter tank. With the Russians hitting the Orlivka crossing again and messing up the border, I'm worried things will just get worse.
Does anyone actually know how this formula works? To me, it feels like the big oil companies are just pocketing the difference while we struggle to make a profit. Is this tax cut actually supposed to reach our pockets or is it just for show? I'm tired of seeing my paycheck disappear into the fuel tank every week.
