Hello everyone. I’m writing this because I feel quite upset after my morning cycling session along the river today. As someone who grew up in Hue, the Perfume River is like the soul of our city.
Recently, there has been a video circulating online—and I unfortunately witnessed something similar this morning—of staff on a tourist dragon boat (specifically boat HUE-1239) casually tossing beer cans and plastic bags directly into the water. It breaks my heart to see this. As an English teacher, I always try to tell my students that being a 'civilized' person starts with how we treat our environment.
We pride ourselves on being a green, clean heritage city, but how can we invite tourists here if we don't respect our own home? The authorities are investigating, which is good, but I believe we need much stricter fines for these boat operators. We cannot let a few careless individuals ruin the natural beauty and the image of Hue. Our river deserves so much better than being treated like a trash can.
