I recently read about the upcoming deployment of Ghanaian nurses to Jamaica, set to begin this June. While this agreement between our two nations aims to strengthen healthcare delivery in Jamaica and offers our nurses international experience, I can't help but feel conflicted. As a Community Health Nurse in Tamale, I've witnessed firsthand the challenges we face due to understaffing and resource constraints. Losing skilled professionals to overseas assignments might exacerbate these issues. It's crucial that while we support our nurses' professional growth, we also address the gaps in our own healthcare system to ensure quality care for all Ghanaians.
