I just saw the news today about Bootlegger coffee here in SA and it’s a proper mess. The CEO used that Claude AI to build a website himself—what they call 'vibe-coding'—and he accidentally leaked a ton of private data. Names, phone numbers, and money details for over 130 shops were just sitting there for anyone to see because employees posted photos of their screens on Instagram.
I’m a cook, not a computer guy, but even I know you can't just let a machine do the work and not check it. It’s lazy. I use recipes every day, but I don't just throw things in the oven and hope for the best without looking. Now a home-grown brand is in trouble because someone wanted a shortcut. We’re losing the human touch in everything lately. If you want a job done right, you do it properly or you pay a professional who actually knows the code. I feel for the franchisees who had their info put out there like that.
